Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Are you in my insurance network?
A: I am an out-of-network, private pay psychologist. Clients pay for services at the time of the appointment, and at the end of the month receive a detailed Superbill with all the information necessary to file for out-of-network benefits.
Q: How much will therapy cost me out- of-pocket?
A: Your out-of-pocket costs will vary based on your specific insurance carrier, plan, and deductible rate. I advise that you contact your insurance provider prior to establishing an appointment. If you are interested in a referral within your network, I will do my best to assist you in finding a good fit for your identified problem area.
Q: What is Animal Assisted Therapy?
A: Animal Assisted Therapy is gaining popularity in clinical work with all ages. Licensed mental health workers and obedience-trained animals work together in the clinical setting to provide a calm and welcoming environment. Research with Animal Assisted Therapy dogs are finding clinical benefits of reduced anxiety, increased mental stimulation and engagement in therapy, lessened depression and loneliness, and improved social skills.
Dude is a hypo-allergenic Portuguese Water Dog with a terrific temperament for clinical work. He is always happy to greet clients and then will rest by their feet, available for comfort and petting throughout the session. It has been my experience that withdrawn and anxious clients are more open and engaged in therapy when Dude is present. I offer Animal-Assisted Therapy appointments on Wednesdays.
Q: Are you a Christian Counselor?
A: I am not a licensed Christian Counselor. Counselors with this distinction have studied within a specialized training in order to apply scripture and biblical principles to improve mental health and relationships.
I am a Christian and a licensed Clinical/School Psychologist. My approach to a client’s spirituality is accepting and non-judgmental. I will meet each client where they are in their spiritual life, and have worked successfully with Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Agnostic, and Atheist clients.
